Manifesto for Now
Manifesto for Now
Sundays are for...remembering why we love living in Bath.
Sundays are for a nice walk.
We’ve had a very lazy weekend which is always nice. This afternoon we walked up Lansdown, onto Sion Hill and back down again. Now we’re back, the fire is lit and the Brazilian Grand Prix is on the telly. I’m not sure why we’re watching F1 but today it’s quite interesting with Button having the opportunity to become World Champion if he makes it onto the podium.
Bath got beaten in the Heineken Cup this afternoon. While we were up on Sion Hill, we could hear the swelling roar of the crowd reaching up from the city. Turns out it was a close match but Stade Français pulled away from their deficit with some last minute scores.
Walking back through Victoria Park the hot air balloons were preparing to go up. You can watch the passengers get the safety briefing before they put the blowers on to inflate. That’s the pattern of the sound you get from our house; the blowers whirring in the distance, then the burners. Sometimes they burn right over the top of the house and feel frighteningly close. But the park is stunning as the trees turn. We had beautiful sunshine in the early part of the week and the whole place just glowed with a glorious soft light.
So Sunday evening approaches and I am trying to avoid a dark teatime of the soul by writing this rather than thinking about work. It certainly helps, as will dinner and a glass of wine...
